This German band formed four years ago, their new album will be released in March, so they were kind enough to sent us a CD to listen to. The band is formed of four members – Crip (drum, percussion) , Je (vocals, guitar), Saq (bass, vocals), Sli (guitar) – and their debut album turned out to be quite long, with thirteen songs. The songs Black and Black Book of Cosmic Salvation have two parts each, and the ending tracks, the Space Trilogy is faithful to its name, being composed of three items. I couldn’t easily label their music, hard rock has the most powerful influence on them, colored with a bit of psychedelia, and some metal and space rock create the base. Listening to them, I can see dunes in a flamboyant sunset, with sparse tufts and a some faraway silhouettes, but also seashores with waves dancing back and forth in the sand torn by rocks. There are also pictures of a city, the sound of hasty steps, people in hurry and monstrous machines swallowing petrol. This Italian band was formed in 2007 in Vasto on the Italian coast to make music allying bony, raw guitars and drums. They recorded an EP straight away, entitled L’Origine, then they toured for a year. The second album of the Polish band Elvis Deluxe was published; they were so kind they sent us a CD, the music is the good kind of stoner, so nothing is in the way of this article. First of all, I must mention the heartbreakingly aggressive color of the booklet. A girl who’s well-informed about fashion could certainly tell the color’s name, I call it glittery pony violet or pale neon salmon. ON the inside it’s paired with lively green, so we get an absolutely psychedelic experience before even starting the disc.

It was love at first listening. A few seconds of the first track, and thought: this is it! The first track, Arrival on Titan got me hooked so much that now I listen to it every single day. It’s made of pure, unrestrained energy, boosted by the zippy vocals. The tune is the icing on the cake, it stays in the head immediately.

It’s not new stuff, but we don’t meet often Polish stoner bands, plus the band’s lovely promoter contacted me, and the record is coming on in autumn. This one is not bad at all, released throughout the world via stonerrock.com. Since 2002, the band mostly gives concerts in Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania. Let’s see if this Elvis is really of a deluxe kind!

Ponamero Sundown has been the apple of my eye for long; I noticed them through a song that still remains my favourite in the genre and is titled Espiritu Diablo. This song feels so much like a Mexican cuwboi riding into the sunset with a sombrero, that it’s difficult to believe these guys are chasing Finnish rocker chicks in the Swedish woods. This year, after four previous demos, their album Stonerized was released at Transubstans Records. Let’s see what this album reserves for a stoner fan.

God Damn, a relatively young band formed in 2004 is one of those things that I just cannot pass by and say nothing of. They are one of the most promising southern metal band that I’ve been listening to lately since their album Old Days was published a few months ago. And we don’t even have to go overseas for them!

After Blind Dog let’s take a look at another Scandinavian stoner group who combines their music with hard rock. Ponamero Sundown was formed in 2005 by three enthusiastic Swedish lads whose names are: Nick Engwall (vocals), Peter Eklund (drum) and Anders Martinsgård (guitar). I’d like to drool out a few statements on their album (which is available via their official website) for those who are even too lazy to download free stuff.
