A Thousand Knives Of Fire – The Last Train To Scronsville (2008) @english version

A Thousand Knives Of Fire is non other than another teamwork of the pivotal figures of the scene, this time conducted by members of Halfway To Gone, Monster Magnet and Raging Slab, which is an ample amount of reason to look forward to their project and most likely will not let us down.

thelasttrain At least not if we have a setting where Lee Stuart stands behind the microphone (and the guitar and the mouth organ) which will inevitably predestine the striking similarity with Halfway To Gone; where at the same time is in harmony with the styles of the other two bands creating a colourful medley of 11 tracks on the album. Curiously enough, the album’s first half tends to be more like a Raging Slab kind of hard/stoner rock with the interlude of Nothing In Life’s For Free’s southern taste and the slightly heavier Last Train To Scronsville (which is incidentally my favourite) the album shifts into an insturmental psychedelic kind of way with some sludge elements. At first, the contrast between the beginning and ending of the album was strange but eventually this became the ultimate reason to push the play button again and again after the 50 minutes of the album. Although I am not aware of any future plans of the band yet, we should bear their name in our minds, hopefully we’ll hear from them soon enough. Until then, you can listen to four of their songs on their myspace page.
